Cookie Policy
Costa Ballena Property is operated by Gato Gris Costa Rica Properties SRL. This page explains the cookies and similar technologies this website uses, and why. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
Why we use them
Cookies are how a website recognises the same browser from one page to the next. Without them this site cannot keep track of the properties you have looked at, remember a saved search, or tell whether a visit is one person reading ten listings or ten people reading one.
These technologies are necessary for us to provide the service. By continuing to use this website you agree to their use, as set out in our Terms & Conditions.
Our own cookie
| Cookie | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
cbp_ve_vid | Identifies your browser so that the listings and searches you view are recorded together. Holds a random identifier and nothing else — no name, no email address, no location. | 360 days |
It is set on .costaballenaproperty.com, is marked Secure and HttpOnly, and cannot be read by other websites.
Third-party cookies
These are set by companies whose technology runs on this site. Each is governed by that company’s own privacy policy.
| Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics | How many people visit, which pages they read, how they arrived. |
| Google Ads | Measures whether our advertising leads to enquiries. |
Microsoft Clarity (CLID, MUID) | Heatmaps and session replay, so we can find faults and improve pages. Password and payment fields are hidden automatically. |
| Microsoft Advertising (Bing) | Measures our advertising on Bing. |
| Meta Pixel | Measures our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. |
Google, Microsoft and Meta operate across many websites and may combine what they collect here with information they hold from elsewhere. What they do with it is governed by their policies — all linked from our Privacy Policy.
Our emails contain a small invisible image that tells us the message was opened. It sets no cookie. Links in our emails pass through our own address so we can record which properties interested you; the page you then arrive at sets the cookie described above. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link.
Controlling cookies
Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies — usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking them will stop parts of this site working as intended, including saved searches and property alerts.
If you would rather we removed your records entirely, write to [email protected] and we will do it.
